Windows Activation failed after moving my harddrive to new computer tower

I recently upgraded some of the components of my computer. I got a new motherboard, processor, graphics card and memory. I am not going to use the previous computer and have wiped it. Windows will not activate with the same hard drive. I called Microsoft Windows 10 Activation and was told that the key I had bought was "exhausted" and could no longer be used to activate Windows 10. My question is this: If the key was valid in the old setup, why is it not valid in the new computer. Here is the output of "slmgr.vbs /dls" if this helps.

  2. Moving Hard Drive to Another Computer and Activating Windows

My screen on my old computer went out. So I moved my hard drive to my sister computer. Her computer was down as the hard drive was bad. I was running Windows 10 home She was running Windows 7 Pro. So in moving my harddrive it is requesting me to activate
my copy of windows. How do I do that without having to buy a new activation code.

Need some help with moving HDD

Sorry for my ignorance, I'm not really knowledgeable with this.

I'm trying to hook up my old harddrive (from my old AGP) onto my new computer.

The reason for this is because there are files that I need from that harddrive.

Would someone care to explain how can I do this step by step, would be appreciated.

There is still Windows XP os installed on that hdd and what not, would that be a problem?

    Thanks *Toast :toast:
