Windows 10: Windows Activation Key

I have lost my Windows registration details on my secondary laptop, after the system crashed and I had to reinstall.

I have owned Windows operating systems for 35+ years since moving on from MSDos in the early 80's


Now I am not a big spending customer, but surely I have some rights to access the products I own and purchased in good faith.


Its not my fault MS decided to move forward and drop support of these products. Generally I would make the assumption that MS moves forward to gain sales and increase revenue. When a system fails what is the cause of the failure - how much can be attributed to lack of support for a product purchased in good faith?


MSDos in the early 1980’s. I began with Windows 3 & 3.1, Windows XP, Win 95, Win Millennium, Win XP,

Win 7, Win 8 was an update, Windows 10 was a free update.


In additions to owning MS products, The Age of Empires and expansion pack (I still own original packaging)

MSWorks, Word, Office, Encarta.

MSWorks Suit (****-****-****-****-****)


My Acer came with Windows Pre-installed as did My HP Laptop.


For some reason I own a copy of MS Office Personal and

MS Office 365 (****-****-****-****-****)

MS Office Pro Plus 2013 (****-****-****-****-****)

MS VISO Pro 2013 (****-****-****-****-****)

MS Project Pro 2013 (****-****-****-****-****)


None of this history is recorded against my account.

Now when my Acer system crashes and I manage to resurrect it MS is telling me I have an unauthorised or Unregistered copy of Windows on my Acer PC.

Are you able to locate restore my full purchasing history to my account and provide me with a registration number for Windows on my Acer Lap Top please?

There is no difference between the OEM disc and the Retail disc with Windows 7. A retail disc will accept a OEM or Retail key, and vise versa.

If the OEM Key wasn't going to work with the disc you have, it would have stopped you during the install when it first asked you for the key, not during activation.

What is likely the problem is that, since the OEM version has already been activated once, it is failing activation again. Activate it over the phone using the option given to you on the failed activation screen, and you shouldn't have a problem activating it.

 

Windows 8.1 pro + WMC key activation

This worked for me last time with a Win 8 key.

Install Windows 8.1 and enter KMS key during setup. Once in windows change product key to my Windows 8 key. Go to add features and enter my WMC add-on key. Drink a beer to a job well done.

yeah, just don't forget that MCE gives you a new Windows key.... I had activation errors untill I entered the MCE key....
