    Windows always at 100% disk usage after update to 2004.


    It has been about 4 days now. I am unable to use windows on my laptop. There are always stalled browsers/apps, basically whenever I try to do anything, I have to wait for a couple minutes for a responseeven opening search. I have tried running disk cleanup too, didn't really help at all. Restarting takes a good 10-15 minutes of time. I have 2TB HDD i5 7th gen 16GB RAM. These are not at all bad specsapart from the HDD, I have been running windows smoothly until the update hit me. Please help me resolve this issue.

    100% disk usage

    The most common cause of 100% disk usage appears to be Superfetch and Prefetch, but there are also other causes. You can try disabling both these features and see if it helps.

    100% disk usage and memory usage can be caused by a software corruption, running application running on the background and malware or virus infection.

    For us to properly isolate the issue and provide an appropriate resolution, kindly answer the questions below:

    • Did the issue happen after installing the Fall Creators?
    • Did you receive any error messages?
    • Can you send us the screenshot of the Task Manager showing the 100% disk usage and memory usage?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
