  1. Windows app shortcuts

I would like to create a short cut for Minesweeper, Solitaire and a few other windows store apps and move them into a folder on my desktop, it is how I like to organize things (I'd like to also move the apps off of my SSD onto my HDD) unfortunately apps from the windows store do not let me make shortcut, "Move to task manager" is all I get, as if i'm supposed to turn my work laptop into a cluttered mess. I checked the box to access hidden files and gave myself permission to open the windows app folder but I still cannot create a desktop shortcut for windows apps or move the apps around. Of course the chat with a box feature is garbage and MS tech support is nonexistent, I just want to organize my files. that's all. How do I set it/ find where I can mess with applications from the Microsoft store? Also f**k microsoft I shouldn't have to go to a blog to do a simple task on a operating system with decades of development.

    :)

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to follow below steps to change pin the apps on the desktop screen and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

    • Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
    • Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
    • Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
    • Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
    • Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

    • Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
    • Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.

    Windows app shortcuts

    Windows 10 commands/shortcuts/env. var.

Win+X (or right click on Windows icon) isn't really useful anymore. MS removed classic control panel from the list and changed programs and features to Apps and Features. To get to Programs and Features you have to go to Apps and Features first (Metro UI) (it's in the top right corner).

And classic cmd also left the win+x and File list, you have to do it old way (win+r -> cmd -> enter).

Now it's easier to access Power Options directly from the taskbar.
