    Windows Apps

Last Friday during one of my lectures OneNote shut down in the middle of my taking notes.

When I tried to open it again it just kept closing, then eventually gave me a notification that OneNote was updating. That wasn't a problem, updates happen, even if I preferred they not happen while I'm using the app.

Now today, three days later, I noticed that a whole host of Windows apps (I'm fairly sure they all are but I haven't actually used more than a quarter of these) are darkened on the menu, and all of the ones that I press say that they're updating. The shadowed apps from the tiles all show what look like status bars under them on the Windows menu, but none of the bars have changed.

All apps that came the computer came downloaded with from OneNote to the Weather are stuck like this. Email, Sticky Notes, Xbox, Skype, even the Alarm.

This wouldn't be a problem if it were that nothing has changed in hours. When I tried to search for a way to either stop the updates or check to make sure that nothing froze, everything recommended I go to the Microsoft Store, except that won't open either. No notification about updates, it just won't start up beyond the window showing up then vanishing.

I originally thought it was tied to my Microsoft subscription running out, except I renewed it today and only noticed the darkened tiles and the maybe status bars today. The Office products are working fine with the exception of My Office which shows the status bar that may not be a status bar.

Even the Dell Customer Connect isn't working.

I tried resetting some of the apps, the Calculator, Alarm, and that got them back to normal, but do I have to go through all these apps and reset them? If that's all I can do then fine, but will that cause problems when I have to reset the Microsoft Store?

If anyone has any other ideas or maybe a way to fix this I would be so grateful.

    Thank you very much

    :)

I think I'll put a list of people's favourite apps in the OP, starting with my own until I get some suggestions, but you can take a look at the Windows Phone app store at the top apps to see what's popular http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store

You are both now added, welcome! *Toast :toast:

    Windows Apps

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Windows Apps :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
