Windows 10: Windows cannot access xxx You do not have permissions to access xxx

Hello,

I am an application specialist working in IT.


We have been getting this error with increasing frequency since April 2018.


Users access my application (.exe) from a network (shared) folder.

The error message reads "Windows cannot access xxx. You do not have permissions to access xxx"

Where xxx is the UNC path to the executable in the shared folder (for example \\<servername>\folder\subfolder1\subfolder2\bin\MyApplication.exe).


Th permissions to this folder were set up in this way:

The network admin created an AD group

then I shared the folder, and assigned full access to the AD group.


What's more interesting is that, the problem fixes itself by having the user restart his/her computer (and wait for a couple of minutes after restarting).


I appreciate any help with a permanent solution, or (perhaps reference to a known bug documentation?)

I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In the Security tab I get a message saying, " You do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings.".

Next I boot into the Windows 7 Hidden Administrator Mode - and even with this I get all the same error messages.

Please help me as I really need to run This file.

ICANN dismisses .XXX domain name

I think moving all pr0n sites to .xxx would be a good idea. It would be easier to block your kid's access. just enable 'block all .xxx domains' or sumping
