Hello,Recently, I encountered this error:I was attempting to install a program that I had downloaded 7-zip.After clicking it and going through the UAC, this error popped up. I don't know if this is a problem with the architecture of my PC it's x64, or it is something else. Google wasn't a help either, as most of the websites were just trying to get you to download their "problem fixer". My first method was to follow what the error said, so I checked the file name, and sure enough, they both were the same. Dictionary file corruption is one of the possible reasons you're having challenges with spell checker. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you clear Spell Checking Dictionary on your computer. Follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer, type %AppData%\Microsoft\Spelling into the address bar, and press
  Enter.
• Open the folder for a language you want to customize (ex: en-US).
• You can now clear the dic file.
• When done, hit File in Notepad, click Save.

Spell check

I would like to inform you that Note pad and WordPad does not have spell check.
Notepad is a text editor, not a word processing program. WordPad is only a slightly modified text Editor. Spell checking is a function of word processing programs, not text editors.

I suggest you to post your valuable suggestions in Windows feedback app. So, that developers will try to implement it in future Windows 10 updates to enhance user experience.

System Spell Check

On my other Windows 10 computer, there is (pretty) universal spell-checking. A wiggly red line under suspect words, suggestions available. You know the idea. Also on this computer if I create a new User Account. But not in my main User Account.

The settings in Devices/Typing are correct. The requisite Registry keys are present. But no spell-check.

Is there an alternative to re-creating my entire user profile?
