Windows 10: Windows can't Complete format

I have the Kingston Data-traveler 100G3 32 GB USB drive. and I wanted to install Cloudready on a old IMac and I installed it and then I

install windows with the wizard. and then I says not enough storage so I tried to erase the the disk partition and then It completed I then put erase and then something happened now when ever I plug it in it asks me to format it and it says windows cant format

and I tried by formatting it by disk management and it says unallocated I tried everything please help.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

Run CMD


1. diskpart
2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

2. select disk #
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

If you're unable to format your SD card from File Explorer, I recommend using the
Disk Management tool. Please make sure that you're signed in as administrator before following these steps:

1. Right-click the Start button.
2. Select Computer Management.
3. Go to Storage > Disk Management.
4. Right-click your SD card and select Format.
5. Enter the Volume label, set the File
   system, and select the check box for Perform a quick format before clicking
   OK.
6. Click OK again to complete.
