  1. Windows change screens after computer turns off monitor

    Hi,

I have a Dell Workstation connected to an external monitor, and every time the computer idles and turns off the monitors, all my windows are replaced in the primary screen and resized to a lower resolution. This behavior started right after a windows 10 version 1903 update in October 2019.

I have tried everything there's out there (i.e., looking for ghost monitors, updating display drivers, changing display ports, reinstalling display drivers from scratch), and nothing seems to work. It behaves as if I disconnected the cables from the external monitor (Which I don't) every time it shuts off.

A couple of weird things I noticed is that after a while, the borders of explorer windows disappear along with the shadow of the active windows, and the brightness sporadically goes back to 0 on its own (No light sensor on this machine). It is very baffling, but very annoying since I have to choose between security from my computer locking every time I leave my desk or manually rearranging all my windows every time I come back.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

    :)

  3. Second monitor screen resolution problem

    Hi,

For us to properly isolate the issue with your second monitor screen resolution, we would like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?

    • When did the issue first begin?

    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you try resetting your monitor settings, and check if the issue still persists. You may refer to your monitor on how to reset it.

We look forward to your response.
