Windows 10: Windows Computer keeps turning off and on uncontrollably after trying to factory reset the...

Hi Windows,


After trying to install an update of a game I play on my windows computer, and it not working which doesn't make sense because i have 2 games downloaded and 118 GB of space but it is full for some reason, I factory resetted my computer to free up some space. After I tried this, it didn't work, and now I am unable to control my pc turning on and off.


What do i do to 1. get my pc to stop doing this, and 2. to have my 100 gb drive not fill up when i only have 2 games installed that are both under 20 gb

I was wondering what the problem was that caused you to reset it to factory settings in the first place?

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

 

Factory Reset Win 7 (without disc)

Download an ISO of the Avira AV boot CD, burn it on your own computer, and then boot from that CD on your mom's computer and run a cleanup.

Seriously, you should just download a Windows disc and format the laptop. Best and easiest course of action.

If you are incapable, or uncomfortable with following any of the recommendations on how to restore the laptop, then I recommend you take it to your local IT guy and ask him to do it for you. Sometimes the best of us have to visit a ripoff merchant to get something fixed, or even just tested...
