Windows 10: Windows Configuration

In the old DOS days, yeah, I know, ancient, one could setup various autoexec.bat and config files which could be selected upon boot, depending on what you wanted to accomplish, i.e. games, cad.....etc.With todays Windows having so much going on in the background, are there any apps that will allow one to choose a selection that would automatically turn off preselected services and apps? I really hate having to go in and manually select which ones to turn off, then having to go back in and turn them back on depending on what I want to do.Cheers.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
