  1. Windows Couldn't Complete the Update, Undoing Changes / We Couldn't Finish Installing...

As the title states, I've been having issues for the past several weeks trying to install the recent windows updates.

    My System Specifications are:

    System

    - Operating System: Windows 10 Home x64 10.0, Build 18363

    - System Manufacturer: Micro-Stat International Co.

    - System Model: MS-7B98

    - BIOS: 1.60

    - Processor: IntelR CoreTM i7-9700K CPU @ 3.6GHz 8 CPUs, ~3.6GHz

    - Memory: 16384MB RAM

    - Page File: 8007MB Used, 12023MB available

    - DirectX Version: DirectX 12

    - Storage: 1x Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB, 1x WDC WD20EARS-00S8B1 2TB HDD

    Display

    - Name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

    - Manufacturer: NVIDIA

    - Chip Type: GeForce GTX 1070

    - DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAV

    - Device Type: Full Display Device

    - Approx Total Memory: 16247 MB

    - Display Memory VRAM: 8088 MB

    - Shared Memory: 8159 MB

The Updates that are failing in question are:

    - 2020-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems KB4565483

    - Feature Update to Windows 10, Version 2004

The feature update fails when attempting to download, it won't even try to restart my pc in order to finalise the update. Error Code0x80070003. Some Update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later.

The Cumulative Update will download and install the first portion as normal, when installing via restart, it will get to 30% and reboot as expected, however it will get to 95%, fail, undo the changes and restart, then try again with no luck. This cycle will happen for around 15 minutes before giving up and booting pre-update. Windows will then pop-up with the notification "We Couldn't Finish Installing Updates", giving the error code0x800f0922.

To get this bit out of the way, I've tried the following fixes with no results:

    - Ensuring that the .NET Framework is up to date. No Change to Updates

    - Going into Windows Features and making sure that all .NET Framework features are enabled. No Change to Updates

    - Restarting the Windows Update Services. No Change to Updates

    - Deleting the Software Distribution folder incase of Corrupt Update Files. Redownloaded Update Files as expected, but still failing

    - Enabled App Readiness in the services and turned on Automatic Startup Type. No Changes to Updates

    - Manully installing the updates via Microsoft Update Catalog. Updates already Installed on This PC... Apparently.

    - Attempting to use the Windows Update Tool. Windows Update Tool could not determine if this PC can run Windows 10

    - Using Windows Media Creation Tool. Windows Media Creation Tool could not determine if this PC can run Windows 10

The last two I thought would have been an easy fix by just overwriting Windows entirely with a new version, but failing to determine whether I could run Windows 10 really threw me off considering I'm already using a previous version of Windows 10. These fixes I have seen on forum posts on Microsoft, and other tech websites, as well as following basic YouTube tutorials with the same steps mentioned within these forums, and nothing has worked. I've disabled Windows Update for now to stop the updates trying and failing everytime I turn my computer on, however I will be left behind with the updates as a result, and I'd rather not leave Windows Update on with the loop as it turns my boot time from around 10 seconds to 20 minutes.

Last thing, I'd rather not have to fully reinstall Windows, simply because I have a lot on my Solid State Drive, as well as quite a lot on my 2TB Drive as well. Moving and backing up my files, formatting my SSD and reinstalling Windows is a lot of effort for an Update Error.

    :)

  3. "We couldn`t create a new partition or locate an existing one."

    Try this:

Before you get to that message, press SHIFT + F10 to open a command prompt.

    Run diskpart.
At the diskpart prompt, run these commands:

    list disk

At this point you should see the SSD as disk 0. If it has another disk number, use that number rather than "0" in the next command.

    select disk 0
    clean
    exit (to exit from diskpart)
exit (to exit from the command prompt)

That should clear the contents of the disk. The entire disk space should then show up in Windows setup as "Unallocated Space" as in the screenshot below.
