    Windows crash (BSOD): dwm.exe MEMORY_CORRUPTION_ONE_BYTE

Hello all, my computer got a BSOD from this error. I was using the Intel Turbo boost Max 3.0 program before it happened. All i did was try to Enable/Disable the Turbo boost , and then the BSOD happened. Does anyone have any idea what this error means? Have i encountered a bug?

    :)

  2. Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709

well in my case the issue is not fix dwm.exe dwmcore.ddl app crash is causing the issue. those are desktop window manager software so i am still waiting on Microsoft to push update to fix this.

Ans when this happens the Microsoft basic display driver takes over that driver date back to 2006 and as only 64 hertz timing it cause bsod.

  3. Windows 10 dwm.exe errors

    • Insider Preview is not installed.
    • Microsoft Security Essentials is the only antivirus installed.
    • I have done extensive troubleshooting to determine a specific desktop program a cause and could not identify a specific program causing the dwm.exe crash.
      • There is an ongoing explorer.exe crash caused by iCloud when the user shuts down or signs out. I believe Google Drive causes a similar explorer.exe crash but the explorer.exe crashes were more frequent back with Windows 8.
Before the 1511 update I the computer was always very stable and when I noticed the dwm.exe breaking the start menu and all of the unified Windows interface components I tested with an image I created before the 1511 update and found no problems. I
went back and forth trying to determine what in the upgrade process wasn't working or what program could have been causing this bug by uninstalling most of my third party programs before upgrading to 1511 yet the dwm.exe crash still occurred.

    • The crashes also seem to correlate with when Windows is indexing.
    • The dwm.exe stopped working event sometimes coincides with a “ShellExperienceHost.exe Stopped responding and was closed” event.

  4. Windows crash (BSOD): dwm.exe MEMORY_CORRUPTION_ONE_BYTE

    Hi,

the System maybe had an "overclocking" reacting because of using Intel Turbo boost Max 3.0. This could cause the BSOD. U should try to revert to stock settings. Seems that u make "experiments". Following Software u installed is known for causing bluescreens:

    EVGA Precision XOC
    Corsair LINK 4

Revert all settings and profiles to stock und remove those tools for testing purposes to see if the bluescreens dissapear.

The bluescreen dump analysis shows two things:
    Code: 0x0000001A: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (26.05.2017 18:17:37) [Windows 10] CAUSED BY: memory_corruption nvlddmkm.sys [1.05.2017] * nVidia Video drivers * => Download Drivers | NVIDIA PROCESS: dwm.exe Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel[/quote]
Please roll back the nvidia driver to an older version or update to the newest.

U should also do an memtest to check RAM:

Windows crash (BSOD): dwm.exe MEMORY_CORRUPTION_ONE_BYTE [IMG]

Windows crash (BSOD): dwm.exe MEMORY_CORRUPTION_ONE_BYTE [IMG]
Note MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

I was able to enable and disable before without getting the blue screen. This was the first time it has happened. Also i am not overclocking my cpu, I run everything on stock. I did the memtest86 before and it didn't give me any errors.

The only SSD test I suggest is the Crystal Mark and/or HDTune tests (listed at the bottom of the page).
These are programs that show the SMART status. SMART is a predictive technology - NOT a diagnostic. SMART can say everything is OK - yet the hard drive can be dead/dying. SMART can say there are problems, yet the hard drive is working normally. Unfortunately, SSD's don't generally have any decent diagnostics, so the SMART tests are all that we have. The only other option is to try another drive and see if that has problems.
You can run these tests from inside Windows - so you won't need bootable media.

As BSODHunter commented in post #2 the precision x has been a faulting application.
    Please uninstall during the troubleshooting.
What do you use this application for if you are not over clocking?
If you need it you may be able to install it at a later time.
