Windows 10: Windows Defender Auto Update?

Discus and support Windows Defender Auto Update? in AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security to solve the problem; Did windows defender perform auto update and auto scan daily?     Windows Defender Auto Update?


    Did windows defender perform auto update and auto scan daily? Since i noticed it is quite often that the definition is outdated and i need to updated it manually.

    WINDOWS DEFENDER is turned off

    Hi,

    We have two W10 computers, desktop and laptop.

    The desktop is running Windows Defender, and under Services "Windows Defender Antivirus Service" is set to "Auto".

    With the Laptop, Windows Defender is turned off. Under Services "Windows Defender Antivirus Service" is set to "Manual" and the "Auto" option is greyed out.

    What are the steps to turn defender on please?

    Defender does not auto scan after windows 10 anniversary update

    Defender does not auto scan since Windows 10 anniversary update. Today is October 4 and the last scan was Oct 1. The computer was rebooted at least twice during this period. How long is the normal interval between auto scans. Before the anniversary update
    it auto scanned on every daily boot.

    Why is there no forum for Windows Defender in the Microsoft community?

    As long as automatic windows update is working, windows defender will auto update. It's part of windows update.

    my windows update is working fine, but the defender is still not auto update the definition.

    If you open WD > click Update tab at top, does the window show the latest update done and on what date and time ?

    Windows Defender Auto Update?

    Do you by chance have your updates set to only notify you & not automatically update/install? If so, then you would have to either set them to automatically update & install, or you would have to manually update defender. I have mine set to notify only & I run a manual update on Defender at least once a day if not more.

    WD does not download or install updates.
    Those are done by Windows Update. Once done, the installed updates go straight to WD.
