Windows Defender is blocking Steam from running online. When I deactivate Defender, Steam can be opened online. How can I get Steam to work online without deactivating Defender?

Windows Defender is blocking too much saying it viruses

    Hi Sam,

Based on the screenshot that you've provided, Controlled Folder Access is turned on, blocking most apps that you're using. We suggest that you turn it off to allow blocked apps in Windows Defender. Follow the steps below:

    • Select Start > Settings.
    • Choose Update & security > Windows Defender.
    • Select Open Windows Defender Security Center.
    • Select Virus & threat protection, and then choose Virus & threat protection settings.
    • Under Controlled folder access, turn it on or off.
    • Once done, try accessing the apps and see if you can now access them.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to post back.

  3. Windows Defender blocking apps like Firefox or Steam

Bascially, I updated to windows 11 a few days ago and basically today I couldn't enter Firefox. After a research i found out that the app was being blocked by the windows defender, and, after changing Firefox's executable name, I was able to open it. The same happened with Steam. How do I get rid of this problem? Already disabled all windows defender options but still having the same issue.

BlueSound OS conflict with Windows Defender

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that Windows Defender blocks BluOS app. It is very unusual that Windows Defender blocks the app. However, I would suggest you to try adding the app to the Exclusion list of Windows Defender and see if that helps.

To add the application to the Exclusion list, please refer the steps mentioned in the article

Add an exclusion to Windows Security
    .

Let us know how it goes.
