Windows 10: Windows Defender cannot won't? remove trojandownloader:js/malscript.b!mtb

My parents computer seems to have a virus on it at least that's what Windows Defender says. It was supposedly detected yesterday while we were away. The computer in question is a 2009 HP Pavilion dv6-2157sb with Windows 10 Professional 64 bit 19042.906 20H2, Windows Experience Pack 120.2212.561.0. The virus that comes up in Windows Defender is trojandownloader:js/malscript.b!mtb and was detected in a file called C:\Users\ob\Documents\firefox-update.js.


I've looked everywhere for this file, but it doesn't exist? I'm not sure where it came from, nor do I believe my parents went on anything they weren't supposed to I check their browser history when I shut the computer down each night. I have hidden files showing and nothing comes up. I've tried removing/quarantining the threat, but that did nothing. It still shows up and is ACTIVE. I also ran the MSERT Microsoft Emergency Response Tool 1.335.205.0 which claims it found 6 threats, but when it finished, stated that no threats were detected. I also ran the Windows Defender Offline Scan which failed to remove the threat as well. I looked up the threat and it was stated that it steals personal information, but doesn't seem to cause any issues with Windows or the computer hardware.

How in the world do I get rid of this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

how do I remove of a virus detected by defender?

on Saturday 3/31/'18, defender scanned and found a trojandownloader JS jesdow B!url on my PC. The security center suggested trying defender offline. I can not find access defender offline after following directions. At 'settings' "detected items' and 'details'
not found. Still need help to run

offline.

On Saturday night of 3/31/18, I ran Super Spyware and Malwarebytes and both scans found 'no threats' So I ran Defender again, that time it reported the threat has bee successfully. What is goig on?

 

Windows defender is turned off and won`t turn back on

Windows defender on windows 10 enterprise won`t turn on. This happened shortly after i updated it; when I try to turn it on it says:

This app has been turned off and it isn't monitoring your computer.

And right underneath it, it says:

If you are using another app for malicious and unwanted software use Security and Maintenance to check that app`s status.

Need for a response ASAP, thanks

 

TrojanDownloader:JS/Jesdow.B!url only detected by defender and MS safety scanner not by AVG, Mcafee or any other 3rd party scanner, can't be removed or quarantined!

I'd say that is a real threat. This TrojanDownloader: JS/B!url on my HP laptop was causing redirection from my intended website choices to malicious websites instead. Windows Defender detected it. Other malware programs did not as others said. Windows
Defender tried to remove it but was not successful-would freeze up aftere trying to remove it. I ended up getting HP Smartfriend service technicians to remove it Monday April 2nd. Cost $99.99. After running Malwarebytes and Windows Defender full scans I can
say it is gone.
