Windows 10: Windows Defender constant running in background ever since kali linux os download

I downloaded the Kali Linux installer .iso file and ever since windows defender has been running in the background using anywhere from 50-90% of my CPU. I am also now unable to even delete the .iso file as any time I attempt to it just leaves me on calculating size with no progress ever being made. I have researched every way to disable windows defender but none of them have worked. at this point, I just want to know if there is any way to limit how much access to my computer's resources windows defender has. I have an old laptop that is missing one of the cooling fans and because it is running non-stop in the background every time I turn my computer on the fan ramps up crazy loud. I have also attempted to use PowerShell but when I run the command to remove-item even if I -force it will simply not run and not give me any feedback essentially locking the PowerShell window preventing me from being able to type in that window anymore. I really just want to be able to use my computer again.

What Are System Requirements To Run Kali Linux in Hyper-V

Sorry, I didn't know what category to post this.

I'm thinking of getting a new laptop and would like to be able to run Kali Linux in Hyper-V. My current laptop has 8 gigs of RAM. Whenever I have tried to run the Kali Linux from the Microsoft Store I have run into roadblocks to follow along with a book
I have to learn.

Was wondering if 16 gig RAM would be adequate for Kali Linux running in Hyper-V.
