Windows 10: Windows Defender display window "Page not available."

Immediately after a Windows Update, all kinds of chaos inside on my desktop computer. It has Webroot Antivirus but I use the Windows Defender for an occasional malware scan and recently was instructed by Microsoft Support to run Windows Defender's Offline scan. I had done this once before without any problems and it found nothing of course. On different computers Norton Antivirus has found files that were quarantined or deleted from the system BTW. Webroot has yet to find anything. I noticed another Question regarding Microsoft suddenly appearing as an audio signal reporting that I had a virus, also right after the Update that caused all of the chaos on my current computer. I've never heard of that happening to anyone, and it was so brief that I had no time to record any notes on the matter. At any rate, when I open Settings, Update & Security, Virus & Threat Protection a window appears "Page not available. Your IT Administrator has limited access to some areas of this app, and the item you tried to access is not available. Contact IT Helpdesk for more information. OK."

This computer is near new and almost immediately began to have problems. It spent 3.5 weeks in Best Buys Geek Squad Black Hole, an outside location that I could not gather much information about. When the computer was returned to me, it was nowhere near the condition it was when I purchased it. It took me several weeks of downloading updates and reloading applications that came with the system from the manufacturer. I previously owned all HP desktop computers. This monster is a Dell. I highly recommend the HP over the Dell. It has, um, issues of engineering. Windows 10 has so much redundancy it is mind-boggling. How many Reset type features are there and why don't any of them work? I made Bootable Start-up Disks for every computer and every version of Windows since Windows 3.1, which was by far my favorite for being trouble free, and none of them ever worked. I hate Microsoft, and have little use for so-called IT professionals, programmers, etc. and my own wife is an IT Specialist, and I say without reservation that for the most part, their abilities are simply put, monkey see - monkey do. They know how to do their job, but they do not understand what it is that they do. In the early days of microprocessors, each one had its own language for instructing the hardware as to what to do, and it usually involved a series of numbers, combinations of letters and numbers, separated by commas or other more common keystroke-like marks. They could have been anything legible enough to tell apart from other marks. That was all that was necessary. Imagine a large steel or cast iron cylinder shape on its side with a reinforced door at one end, with a rail system inside with a cart that you could push in or pull out. And that large cylinder had to be pressurized and heated at a certain rate, held for a period of time, and then cooled at a certain rate. If you did not understand the impact of the language you were using, how would you know if you were exceeding the mechanical limits of that cast iron cylinder? Fortunately, the microprocessors were very simple by todays standards, using numbers that correlated to exact temperatures and pressures. So friends, 800 would have been 800 degrees Fahrenheit, 800 would have been 800 PSI, and vacuum would have been as close to the same as deep space as one can get with a conventional vacuum pump sitting on the exterior of that huge cylinder. No mysteries. I have run searches offline, online, logged in, logged out, and can anyone tell me where the devil the IT Helpdesk is? Please don't tell me it's in Pakistan, India or China. Please? Call me cynical, call me whatever you like. I am self taught. I am not a programmer. I am not an IT professional. I'm just some old aerospace engineer who checks his e-mail on occasion and uses his desktop to digitize his old original recordings laid down on 4-track cassette tapes. In other words, I wrote a good deal of folky Americana music back in the 1970's through the 1990's. And I did it on a nickel and a shoelace. I even used combinations of microphones not even made for recording music, but for short wave radios. Radio Shack Reverb units, miniature guitar amplifiers, guitars pulled out of dumpsters. Cleaned the garage grease off with Simple Green and replaced $17 in tuning keys, string pegs and strings. Of course as time wore on I built up my equipment until I had an early-one-of-a-kind Fender Squire guitar, when they were intended to be Fender's elite line of instruments, now worth about $40K, and a beautiful cutaway Yamaha electric-acoustic dreadnaught guitar. That Squire cost about $600 new, and no, it didn't come from Guitar Center. They didn't exist back then to my knowledge. You can order CDs if you like, but you probably wouldn't. One CD is title "Hardass On A Softail" and another is titled "Crash Deluxe: Who Will Cover Me" and is all cover songs. Another CD is as yet untitled but will be made up of original Gospel songs. I may very well be certifiable, at least these days, as I was infected at age 3 with the infamous bioweapon known more commonly as Lyme disease, which did not exist prior to 1945. Borrelia Afzelli causes a less severe form of the disease, mostly in Europe. But Borrelia Burgdorferi is a hybrid bacteria developed by a Nazi biologist, who the US captured and brought to the US at the end of WWII with thousands of other Nazi scientists. It was a hybrid between Syphilis and Borrelia Afzelli, and with every batch he cooked up on Plum Island, he likely turned infected ticks and mice lose at every opportunity. I imagine his Nazi beliefs remained with him the rest of his life like many of his expatriates, to whom he likely mailed infected ticks to via our USPS for them to turn lose in our parks and other public spaces. You can't even go to Disneyland without encountering white, red-eyed lab mice running amuck near all of the food concessions, all infested with infected ticks. I know; I and friends have caught these mice, removed the ticks and had them tested. Simply reach over the pretty wrought iron railings, grab them by their pink little tails, and plop them into brown paper bags and tape it shut until later. Then you go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. And believe you me, it's been one helluva ride. Now, about that IT Helpdesk baloney?

Windows Defender Released

Microsoft has released the final version of its Windows Defender anti-spyware utility. Windows Defender is a product of the Microsoft acquisition of GIANT Software. Previously known as Windows AntiSpyware, after a two years beta period it's now available for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 under the name Windows Defender. Windows Defender incorporates Real-Time Protection to monitor systems for spyware activity, automated spyware removal with scheduled scans, full integration with Internet Explorer 7.0 and automatic spyware definition updates from Microsoft. Windows Defender is available freely to all customers running a genuine copy of Windows. Microsoft has also announced that customers will each be allowed to report two support incidents for free with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
