  1. Windows Defender Firewall Popup Online Game

So I was playing a game online.

    It's a fight/adventure game, Dauntless.

And everything is going well enough, but then another player, on a switch Because the game allows players to see what other players are playing the game on. Some are on computer like me and other are on play station, sends me a invite to join their adventuring group, and immediately I get a Windows Defender Firewall Popup.

And I get worried because I don't know too much about this stuff and quickly read it and select an option I believe was to keep my network private and secure. But after examining it a bit more was to allow the game to access/communicate on my private network.

Because I deselected the public network and selected the private network.

I was thinking that was to keep my network safe and not allow anything onto my network or PC.

And then the game asked about a microphone which I don't have one but I kept the option button muted.

Do you understand what I mean? I don't mean to over explain but I figure you needed the context of what had happened.

Anyways I ran around a bit more in the game and the other other player that I accepted their invite into the adventuring group, shortly later disbanded the group. So I was on my own again which I was glad for.

So I decided to log off and figure out what had happen which ultimately lead me here.

    ***Question***

This is a long narrative for me to ask: could my network or PC have been infected or spied on? What I mean is could have that person have infected my computer or taken information off of my computer through me accidentally clicking allow? Is my network/PC secure still? Do I need to do anything?

The whole thing had me worried because I don''t normally play online games and it was strange how they offered an invite and then disbanded the adventuring group. Almost like it was to infect my computer or something.

Well, thank you if you read all of this and for any advice you provide.

    :)

    windows defender firewall

    Hi Faye,

Third-party antivirus programs usually have their own uninstallers provided by the software developer. We suggest checking the developer's website or contacting their support team for assistance with uninstalling their program. After fully uninstalling the
third-party antivirus software, you may turn on Windows Defender by following these steps:

    • Click Start.
    • Type Windows Defender Security Center and press Enter.
    • Click Firewall and network protection.
    • Click Private (discoverable) network and click On.
    • Click Public (non-discoverable) network and click On.

Let us know if you have any other concerns about Windows Defender.

I keep getting Windows Defender firewall popups about blocked applications even though my Windows Defender Firewall is turned off and I'm using Comodo Firewall

Currently running Win 10 Pro, version 1903.

    Hi,

I've installed Comodo and use that as my firewall, meaning Windows Defender Firewall is turned off permanently.

Every now and then I get Windows Defender Firewall popups asking me whether I want to allow or block applications.

When I go to Firewall and Network Protection settings, it says "No action needed" on all networks (Domain, Private and Public).

Domain, Private and Public networks all show that Comodo is turned on and, "Windows Defender firewall as not active, because you are using other providers".

Is there a reason I'm getting these Windows Defender Firewall popups? E.g. my computer is infected?

    Thank you.

Windows Defender Firewall error code 0x800706d9

    Hi AnudieKatz.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Since you are facing an issue with the Windows Defender firewall, I would like to ask you few questions to get a better picture.

    1. Are you using any other Anti-virus software?
    2. Since when are you facing this issue?
    3. Have you tried installing Picture viewer and Calendar app after it getting uninstalled?

Based on your information, I would like to inform you that if you are using third party anti-virus program Windows defender will automatically turn off from your system you will not able turn it on manually.

Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below methods.

Method 1: Check the following services and ensure it is started.

    1. Press Windows and R key together on your Keyboard.
    2. Type Services.msc and hit Enter.
    3. Search for the following services:
    • Base filtering engine Service
    • Remote Procedure Call Service
    • Windows defender firewall service
    4. Start the above services and reboot the device.

Method 2: I would suggest you to try running the troubleshooter to enable the firewall. Use the below link to run the troubleshooter.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...agnose-and-fix-problems-with-windows-firewall

If you are still facing the same issue after following the above steps, revert with the details asked.

    Hope it helps.
