Windows 10: Windows Defender icon not showing when system starts up

Here it is. Just drag the Defender shortcut icon into the Startup folder. Or better yet, upgrade to 1607.

1. Open File Explorer: Start Menu > File Explorer; and type (or copy and paste) shell:startup (user Startup folder) or shell:common startup (common Startup folder) into the Quick access box and hit the Enter key to open the Startup folder.
2. Make a shortcut icon for Defender on the desktop.
3. Then drag and drop the shortcut icon into the Startup folder. All done!

 

I added the Windows Defender shortcut to the Startup folder and it did startup along with the icon, but the whole entire Interface windows appears now...

I only need the icon to appear.

 

try adding /hide to the command line

 

Delete the icon you put in the startup folder. Select the first option ad follow the rest of the instructions.

"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe" -QuickScan -hide
"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe" -UpdateandQuickScan -hide

1.) Select and copy the line for the option you want.
2.) Right-click on the desktop and select New > Shortcut and then paste the run line as the location (target), and name the shortcut.
3.) Open File Explorer: Start Menu > File Explorer; and type (or copy and paste) shell:startup (user Startup folder) or shell:common startup (common Startup folder) into the Quick access box to open the Startup folder.
4.) Then drag and drop the shortcut into the Startup folder. All done!
