Windows 10: Windows defender is blocking every single torrent software I try to install

I have tried installing Qbittorrent, Transmission and for testing purposes (not intending to use them) uTorrent and Bittorrent. Windows defender instantly blocks all of these. I only managed to install Qbittorrent by disabling Windows defender for a while, but instantly gets removed when I turn the Defender back on.



Is it okay to whitelist/allow Qbittorrent or Transmission? I'm kinda hesitant to do so before asking here, because it says the threat is severe. Thanks.

Blocking Torrenting

to effectively block torrent, you need to define fire-walling rules that are based on layer 7 pattern and packet content matching - which i doubt that your switch is capable of.

consider a mikrotik or any powerful router to get it done.

shall you deploy a mikrotik, all you need to do is add this rules to firewall:

• drop packet that are matching to a L7 pattern of torrents packet (use built in feature: p2p=all-p2p) - this will keep classic - non secure - torrents connection out
  
• block outgoing DHT from your network (packets containing "d1:ad2:id20:" with packet size from 95 to 190 and in a udp protocol)
  
• block outgoing torrent announce (packets containing "info_hash" in a tcp protocol format)
  

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

 

Microsoft Smart Screen and Windows Defender blocking ScanUtilities to install and RUN

Often during install it will download any updates automatically,

It may also be that the defender & other av have received updates to their software which is now detecting this software as a problem, you can add the installer’s exe to the exclusion list by finding it under quarantine & choosing to exclude it.

You can also try the original suggestion with the program’s installer in case that is blocked.
