    Windows Defender real time scanning problem with USB flash drives?


    Has anybody else had any issues when using USB flash drives with antivirus real time scanning?
    Today I was putting my flash drive back to factory settings using Diskpart. Everything went as expected until after I completed the full format to FAT32. The last line in Diskpart I typed was "Active" and the command failed saying something like unable to access file. The "what would you like to do with removable drives" popup appeared as it does when you first insert the flash drive. I'm guessing that Windows Defender may have interrupted Diskpart and be causing the issue as something similar once happened a while ago using the Media Creation Tool with McAfee to create a bootable Windows 10 installation USB . As soon as I stopped Real time scanning it was fine.
    Does anybody ever disable Antivirus Real Time scanning..is it safe to do so?
    Obviously it would have to be immediately re-enabled afterwards
