    Hi There,Our company runs windows 10 21H2 on HP Probook 450 G8 Notebook and 16G of RAM .Windows freezes randomly on many laptops. I was able to catch one of the laptop freezing. When finally pulled the task manager while it was freezing , I noticed that MsSense.exe and MPEng.exe is taking a lot of RAMA quick search showed that those two processes seem to be related to Microsoft Security/Defender which we use in our company . I did all windows and driver updates with no solution to this issue. I believe this issue starts when we run the defender scan around noon time. It appears t

    As per your description, I understand that internet explorer is consuming more ram space. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

    This issue may arise due to:

    • Opening multiple tabs at a time.
    • Using add-on.
    • Virus.
    • Multiple internet explorer opens in Task manager.
    I suggest you to follow the steps below and also check whether multiple Internet explorer process are running at the same time.

    • Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
    • Open Task manager.
    • Click on Detail Tab.
    • You will see MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe file.
    • Right Click and End Task.
    • Restart the computer.
    If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform virus scan by using Windows Defender Offline Beta from the below link and check if it helps.

    Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    This issue might occur if you have set any task scheduler for Windows Defender.

    I suggest you to delete the task for Windows defender and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps:


    • Search and open Schedule tasks.

    • In the left-hand menu, open the Task Scheduler Library, then select
      Microsoft >Windows >Windows Defender.

    • Double-click Windows Defender Scheduled Scan.

    • Select the Triggers panel, then select Delete.
