Windows 10: Windows Defender

Hello there!


I'm having some major difficulties with using Windows Defender at this moment. It started when my computer refused to enter sleep-mode when I was going to bed. I thought it was pretty weird and decided to check out if there was anything wrong with it. I noticed that Windows Defender wasn't running which alarmed me since that is the only antivirus program that I'm using. I checked the settings and quickly found out that something was wrong, there were a bunch of settings missing from the security screen.





As you can tell this is not what I'm used to, I honestly have no idea what is going on. I can not update windows anymore. I can not enable windows defender anymore. I can't even see most of the security settings, and I can't interact with the settings I can see. It really is so confusing, I have tried to look up information that would help me in fixing this issue but so far i have found nothing that helped.

Windows Defender problem

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
• Right-click Windows Defender service and click
  Start.

Let us know the result.

 

Windows update and windows defender issues

We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

• On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
  
• Click Settings.
  
• Turn Real-time protection on.

We also recommend you to install the latest update for Windows Defender.
