Windows 10: Windows Defender

Hello, my windows defender seems not to be working again. The last time this happened, there was some malware on my computer as it constantly said the battery needed to be replaced despite the computer being new. To fix this, I reinstalled windows and defender seemed to be working again. Today the problem has returned again and one of the signs also present previously was that I could not put the computer on sleep by pressing the power button, instead the screen would go off and it would remain on stand-by. Here is the screenshot of what happens when I try to open windows defender. Also, I have run a scan with McAfee and it is not detecting any viruses

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
• Right-click Windows Defender service and click
  Start.

Windows update and windows defender issues

We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

• On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
  
• Click Settings.
  
• Turn Real-time protection on.

We also recommend you to install the latest update for Windows Defender.
