Windows 10: Windows Defender

I received a message from Microsoft that they will no longer be supporting the 1703 version of Windows. I have an Acer Spin hybrid that runs on Windows but there is not enough disk space to install Windows updates. I have tried deleting apps but I still don't have enough storage space for the installation.


When I check Windows Defender it said it is operating. However, I'm concerned that sometime soon Windows Defender might not work because my version of Windows is no longer supported.


I have a new tablet and another old laptop, but I would like to keep using my Acer Spin for when I join Zoom meetings or Go to Meeting webinars. I also use it somewhat for email purposes, which is why I'm concerned about security issues.


If you have any knowledge of when Windows Defender may no longer be functional, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance.

Windows Defender problem

Hi Ernst,

To troubleshoot this issue, we suggest that you check the Windows Defender service if it's running. If you are using a third party spyware/malware program, it may disable the Windows Defender service. To do this, please follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R key.
• Type services.msc.
• Right-click Windows Defender service and click
  Start.

Let us know the result.

Windows update and windows defender issues

We suggest you to avoid installing any cleaner or anti-virus software that may interrupt the function of Windows Defender. Make sure that Windows Defender is always on. To do this follow these steps:

• On the Start menu, type Windows Defender and hit enter.
  
• Click Settings.
  
• Turn Real-time protection on.

We also recommend you to install the latest update for Windows Defender.
