Windows 10: Windows definition download crashed computer

Hello
I was working on my computer when Windows tried to update my system. My computer screen when black and crashed.

System extremely unstable now and screen blinks off and on.

Thanks for any advise. I have waited 5 days and 4 hours to talk with Window expert and no help yet.

This is awful experience with Microsoft. Waiting on hold on my phone over 2 hours today. Still waiting.

Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

 

definition update for windows denfender antivirus

Hi mknic,
I have literally just installed the definition update KB2267602 without any problem. I suggest as a first step checking all the Windows Defender settings to make sure they all have the 'green ticks' in each section.






ps. The only reason the 'Family Options' is not ticked is because I am the only user on my computer.

I also would suggest running the 'Troubleshoot' feature in the Update & Security settings which has a section dealing with update problems.
