Windows 10: Windows Error 0xc000012f

I am trying to play Rocket League on steam and Apex Legends on Origin, but every time I try to run either they crash. For steam the game says running for a few seconds but no window shows up and then steam says it closed. Apex throws an error C:\\windows\system32\d3dcompiler_43.dll and on steam when I go to the rocket league local files and run the app from there it says C:\\system32\xapofx1_5.dll saying that both files are "either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error." I've deleted and redownloaded both programs multiple times, as well as updated my computer to the latest version of windows.

The error code 0xc000012f related to STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_NOT_MZ, it occurs when specified image file did not have the correct format.

Step 1: I suggest you to download and install latest DirectX End-User Runtimes program and check if it helps.

Note: DirectX 11.2 will work fine with Windows 10 as well.



Step 2: Run the
Search and Indexing troubleshooter.

Follow the steps below and check if it helps.

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
