    Windows Explorer and Outlook locking when closing PDF attachment


    Hi all


    Although this is a PDF issue, this only is effecting Outlook and Windows Explorer so I'm going to start by posting here.


    First used Adobe Reader:

    Opening PDF files or attachments in Outlook ok

    Print button takes way too long to respond and open the print dialogue

    After printing have to wait too long before any thing can be used, i.e save or close.


    Now using Foxit Phanthom PDF:

    Opening is ok

    Printing is ok

    Saving etc ok

    But when I close the file, Outlook and Windows Explorer lock for a stupid amount of time and I have to wait.

    I can use anything else like Excel or Chrome or anything. They all are fine. It's just Outlook and the Win Explorer.

    This does not happen on my laptop, only my desktop which I need to use because of the wider screen.


    I know we're talking a few seconds but when you have a pile of work to do, these pauses can be very tedious and interrupt the work flow.

    How to install outlook express on windows xp with explorer 8?

    This is an awkward problem to solve and one I don't think is worth the time and effort.

    The OP would be better off either using a modern webmail service like gmail or outlook.com or using a modern email client like Windows Live Mail like FX-GMC suggested or Thunderbird from Mozilla. If nothing else, Outlook Distress was notorious for corrupting its data files and losing all your email in one easy step. Not worth it.

    How to install outlook express on windows xp with explorer 8?

    This was going to be my suggestion as well. I just wasn't sure if it worked with XP. It is definitely way better than Outlook Express, and I actually prefer it to regular Outlook as well.
