    Windows explorer keeps refreshing


    I was working on my Surface Pro 3 when my battery went flat. I plugged in my charger and waited for a while. Then I booted up. The Windows Explorer keeps refreshing ever since. I can only access my files on the desktop, not in any folder.

    When I rebooted in safe mode, it indicated explorer.exe system error: that detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in the app.


    My surface pro is now only good for intermittent surfing

    I have had this problem and so have lots of other people. None of the suggested solutions I found on the internet had anything other than a temporary effect. The problem eventually went away of its own accord but still rears its ugly head from time to time. I only kept a few links on the subject -

    When the problem reappears, I restart the computer. If that does not resolve matters then I accept the situation and don't waste my time chasing non-solutions. You might wish to consider adopting the same approach.

    Windows Explorer Replacement?

    are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
