Windows 10: Windows Explorer Sort List No Longer Appears

Understood. Thanks for your help, anyways. I should reiterate, though, that it only started occurring AFTER the Win10 Anniversary update.

 

.. which is why I suggested reverting, and that an in-place upgrade repair isn't an obvious option.

I've not noted any similar reports though, although there could have been.. and no one else has commented (yet).

 

Thanks, but . . . I don't see how "reverting" to the pre-"Anniversary" OS does any good, especially when Microsoft will keep pushing the next build onto me through Updates.

You could try this:
Make a backup first (system restore, registry backup...)
Using shellexview (free); hide all MS items and disable all others. Note the 32 bit option which exposes more.

Disable all others (context menu entries)

The idea is to try to stop thing interfering with explorer.

There must be something in your registry that is somehow interfering with explorer.
What you need to find is why that happens in 1607, not in 1511.

I don't hold out much hope though.
(The idea of reverting and redoing the upgrade was simply it gives another chance if something had got corrupted in the process. Clutching at straws).
