Windows 10: Windows Explorer Stops Functioning W/Laptop Closed

While docked to a Dell WD15 USB-C Monitor Dock with 2 peripheral monitors everything functions normally. When I close the Laptop however, I lose the ability to interact with my taskbar and open/closed programs and windows. They are not 'unresponsive' in terms of actual error status but I cannot interact with them as if they were unresponsive.

I have tried Power cycling the dock itself which has been known to fix several obscure issues. I have checked every aspect of the physical layer for loose connections, I have also tried resetting windows explorer.


Any ideas on a possible/sure fix?

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer
