Windows 10: Windows File Search Not Working Properly Anymore

Hello! I'm William and I'm new to these forums. I usually try to troubleshoot and find answers through browsing the web to find a solution however, I have yet to find a clear answer for this specific problem I seem to have...

Whenever I try to search in Windows 10, it doesn't show results until I push enter. It sounds trivial but before a certain update I think, the results used to show up as I typed. I am currently running Windows 10 OS Build 18363.836

So for example: if I typed into the search bar, "Cho" then Windows would have showed me some results as I typed. But now it won't and I have to push enter.

I don't know what's caused this problem! Can someone please help me, I am lost and I've tried searching for answers! I even reformatted my computer!

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: Restart the Service and check if it helps.

  Press Windows key + R.

  Type Services.msc In the search box.

  Select Windows Search.

  Restart the services and set the service as Automatic.
  

Step 2: Run the
Search and Indexing troubleshooter.

Follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Search and Indexing
  troubleshooter.

We suggest that you try to run Hardware and Device troubleshooter using the steps below:

• Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.
• Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
• Click Run the troubleshooter.

We also suggest that you update the keyboard driver and check if it work.
