Windows File share with microsoft accounts

Went to add a Raid shared folder for a family member to access and it seems that I cannot get access to this shared folder unless everyone is selected for access/permissions. For example I logged into two PC with my MS account. Created a shared folder via share with specific people... I can see the shared folder but do not have access to the folder even though I am signed into each PC with the same MS account.

I did notice that the MS account gets mapped to a GUID or something when selecting the account...not sure why that is but perhaps trying to obfuscate the email?? If I set access to everyone then I can see inside the folder with w/r access...

So even though I am signing into the computers with the same MS account they are not mapping to the same account so access is denied.

One of the PCs was new and I just did the standard login with MS account and I see my "family accounts" in the permissions list

    a local account with

user name/PC Name like John Smith/MyPC

MS account/PC Name like *** Email address is removed for privacy ***/MyPC

I looked through the support and saw the enable SMB which is verified both on...

So what approach do we make this always work? Should we use the MS accounts or local accounts with different Names? Would prefer that MS acct authentication would work all the time but seems like there is also some local setup that is required. What is the best practice?

    Thanks!

  3. Cannot access shared network drive

I could scream! so much time wasted on this stupid error, as if time is not precious enough!
It probably would work fine if I could see the other computer! But I cannot see the other computer!

Windows File share with microsoft accounts

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Windows File share with microsoft accounts :(
