Windows 10: Windows Hello fails to initiate IR Camera and does not work

Hello,


I have a new Surface pro 5 and after upgrading Windows to latest version and installing all the updates, Windows Hello stopped working and every time I start my Surface, Windows Hello fails and gives me a message "Couldn't Turn on the Camera. Please sign-in with you PIN". I have tried the Windows diagnostic tools, tried also checking all hardware devices and they all seem to be working fine.


How can I fix this?

Can Windows Hello face authentication support 2 IR Cameras

We have a laptop that has an IR Camera with Windows Hello face authentication setup and working, but when the user docks their laptop usually has the lid closed so can't use the built in laptop IR camera. We setup and external IR camera to try and resolve
this, but it doesn't work the laptop appears to be able to only use 1 IR camera for Windows Hello. If we disable the laptop IR camera the external camera works, but then the laptop IR camera doesn't work when they're mobile. Is there anyway that Windows Hello
can you both cameras or somehow disable the laptop IR camera when docked?

I only noticed this after the most recent update, but not sure that is the cause. I've followed some fix suggestions like removing/reinstalling the Hello driver and the IR front camera driver, but that has not solved the problem. When I go to the sign-in options I see the message "Windows Hello is preventing some options from being shown".

 

Why doesn't Windows Hello work and do I have an ir camera?

I got a new laptop for Christmas, the Dell Inspiron 5570, it advertised an IR camera but the login options say that windows hello isn't supported. Is this just mis-advertisement or is it a software problem? I don't know what to do. Even in device manager,
it doesn't say that I have an IR camera.
