  1. Windows Hello has completely stopped working, but still hides settings

I have an ASUS Zenbook Flip and am using Windows 10 Home, version 1903 build 18362.267. My laptop is equipped with a fingerprint sensor and has ELAN SPI FingerPrint Drivers installed.

Windows Hello used to work on my computer with the fingerprint sensor, I had it set up to log me in when I put my finger on the sensor. This even worked after the latest update. However, this morning, I noticed first that the lock screen wouldn't disappear with my fingerprint entry, and would still require my password when I tried to dismiss the lock screen. This happened after waking up from sleep (not after a cold boot).

After logging in with my password, I went into Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and noticed that Windows Hello has completely disappeared. There is still text, however, stating that some options are hidden due to Windows Hello. I can still set up a picture lock and physical security device, as well as change my password, however any trace of Windows Hello (apart from the above message) is gone. I am also completely unable to set a PIN.

I have tried reinstalling the ELAN drivers listed above and restarting multiple times to no avail. I can't keep entering my Microsoft password to log in, it's inefficient and too big a security risk, as is a picture lock, and I don't want to set up a physical key. There is no reason, at present, for this to not work that I can see.

    :)

  2. My hello sign in stopped working.

    Hi,

This problem that started after installing the last Windows update might be caused by outdated or corrupted device drivers. For us to better assist you, we'll be needing additional information:

    • Are you pertaining on Windows Hello sign-in? If yes, does it mean that the facial recognition is not working?
    • Is there an error message displayed when using Windows Hello?

Meanwhile, it is better to check the status of Windows Hello sign-in option in your computer. To check the Windows Hello status, follow these steps:

    • Click the Start button and select the Settings
      icon.
    • Choose Accounts from the list.
    • Select Sign-in options in the left pane of the window.
    • Under Windows Hello, kindly check the status of it.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Windows Hello has completely stopped working, but still hides settings :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
