Windows 10: Windows Hello, security key just keeps loading and won't let me setup the fingerprint scanner

Hi,

I recently brought a fingerprint scanner and wanted to use it on my desktop, but when i tried to setup security key in sign-in options, it just keeps loading and shows the message "insert your security key into the usb port" until a certain time and it just disappear without letting me set up windows hello, i even tried reinserting the device but it still doesn't work. I have check on device manager that the biometric device is detected and i even did everything on other thread to resolve the issue such as updating windows I have the latest windows version, update biometric device no updates available, uninstalling biometric device, etc but it stills doesn't work and i can't find anymore solution to the problem.


Please help me if anyone have the same problem and have resolved it.

Hello fingerprint scanner

Hardware is Dell Latitude E653 with the built-in Broadcom fingerprint scanner. Windows 10 just upgraded put in the current Dell drivers, nothing in Device Manager showing an issue. Went to put in a fingerprint so login would be by fingerprint instead of
typing password. Hello never seems to register my fingerprint. I have sat there swiping for up to 5 minutes and it just keeps saying to keep swiping. Are there any trouble shooting steps I can try? I have run the hardware trouble shooter. It claimed to have
fixed something but it never said what.

 

Windows Hello Fingerprint Setup not working

I have same issue with my laptop HP DV6 Pavilion.WIndows hello finger print setup is not working even after this above solution .When i setup finger print sensor i recieve error something went wrong.

 

Windows Hello Fingerprint issue

We understand that you are unable to use Windows Hello Fingerprint to sign in to Windows. It would be great if you can reply with the details requested below:

• When you say, “I am not getting the option to log-in into windows using fingerprint.” What login options do you see on the login screen?
  
• What happens when you try to use the Windows Hello Fingerprint scanner to login to Windows?
  
• Were you able to use the Windows Hello Fingerprint to login to Windows earlier?
  

Ideally, on the login screen, you will see Sign-in options that allows you to use different sign-in methods to login to Windows.



As you have mentioned that you are able to use the Fingerprint scanner on websites, I would suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

1. On the login screen, click on Sign-in options.
   
2. Click on the Fingerprint icon, scan the Fingerprint, and see if you are able to sign in.

If the issue persists, try removing the Fingerprint and add it again. Refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Press Windows key + I, to open
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Accounts and click on
   Sign-in options on the left pane.
   
3. Now, click on Windows Hello Fingerprint and click on
   Remove.
   
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the Fingerprint.
   
5. Once done, click on Set up and follow the on-screen instructions to add the Fingerprint.
