Windows 10: Windows Hello Setup issues

Hi,

I'm having issues setting up Windows Hello after installing a new SSD and transferring my windows OS to it. I recently installed a new SSD and reinstalled Windows on this using a USB. After various issues the system was setup successfully and my files and settings were all transferred over.

Curiously, my sign in option changed automatically to a "PIN" my Microsoft account pin and my previous local password was no longer needed. I tried going into account sign in options to restore it, but all i had was the "Hello" options. I clicked on setup Windows Hello, but it simply asks me for my account password and PIN and then nothing. It takes me back to the Sign in options and i again have the setup Windows Hello option. In my Windows security action needed screen, under account protection i get a message "Set up Windows Hello for your account to work correctly". When i click on the Setup button, it takes me to a a setup screen, where iI'm asked to sign into my Microsoft account, then enter my PIN and then the screen goes away. The same message is displayed in the Windows Security page "Set up Windows Hello for your account to work correctly". PFA screenshots of the same.

Windows Hello Fingerprint Setup not working

I have same issue with my laptop HP DV6 Pavilion.WIndows hello finger print setup is not working even after this above solution .When i setup finger print sensor i recieve error something went wrong.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

May I know the complete error code or error message that you are receiving when you try to setup Windows Hello?

Do you have any other user account on the computer?

If yes, does Windows Hello work on that account?

If Windows Hello is not setup on other account, please setup it up and check if it works so that we can narrow down the issue for you.

I suggest to remove the pin and setup a new pin on the child account and check if it works with Windows Hello.

Please follow the steps below to remove and re-add the PIN:

• Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
  
• Select Accounts.
  
• Click on Sign-in options.
  
• Under PIN, remove the pin. There will be prompt to enter password, enter the password and removed the PIN.
  
• After the pin is removed, please click on
  Add to setup pin for the account.
  
• After setting up a new PIN, try to set up Windows Hello.

Not able to setup Windows Hello PIN

We suggest that you create a new account (local) and try to setup Windows Hello and see if it has the same issue.

Update us after performing the suggestion.
