  1. Windows is forcing me to update to 2004, how do I stop this?

I am currently on 1903, I know support is going to end soon so I wanted to try to update to 1909 since it is not that big of a change. However, Windows is forcing me to download and install version 2004. Is there anyway I can get rid of the download and make it download 1909 instead? I have heard that 2004 is not very stable and am worried.

  2. Windows 2004 update from effects of regedit or scripts?

    IMO, no.

I would suggest reading the list of Known Issues.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...indows-10-2004

There is also a currently running thread here on Windows 10 2004 issues -

Known and Resolved issues for Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

Additionally, there has also been a change in how Microsoft handles attempted forced installs of the ISO on a system that has a block.

I was able to force install it in early June, and I tested it for a couple days before rolling back to 1909.

It will now stop the install, tell you your PC is not ready, and gracefully exit the installer.

    So that's a "tell".

I was able to force install it in early June, and I tested it for a couple days before rolling back to 1909.

Microsoft apparently has now decided to block force installs.

Windows is forcing me to update to 2004, how do I stop this?

    Windows 10 forced download

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
