  1. Windows is reverting my graphics driver to an older version


    I have an Acer Aspire E5 571 running Windows 10. The CPU is an Intel i5 5200U that has an iGPU Intel HD Graphics 5500. The latest driver for this iGPU is the 20.19.15.5171 from 11/04/2020, downloaded from the official Intel website. Windows reverts this driver back to 20.19.15.4531 from 09/29/2016, thinking it's the latest one.As you can see, this isn't a case where the driver manufacturer got the version number wrong or where i'm trying to maintain an old driver, windows is actually installing an older driver over a newer one. I've tried multiple methods to prevent windows from changing my

  2. Unable to install older NVIDIA Drivers on Windows 10

    Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



    • Did you try installing the driver in compatibility mode? Mostly it’s a compatibility issue which many of our customers are facing with NVIDIA.


    I would suggest you go through the suggestion by Andre Da Costa for information about the incompatible Graphics Card and check if it helps.

    If still the issue persists then I suggest you to go to manufacturer’s website install the graphic drivers for windows 10 and if it is not available then you can install it in compatibility mode and check if it helps.

  3. Graphics card information.

    Hi David,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Appreciate your interest in using Windows 10.

    The error might occur if the Graphic card is cannot update the driver automatically.

    I suggest you to update the graphic card manually by following the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device manager.
    • Expand Display Driver from the list.
    • Right click on the Graphic driver and select
      update driver software.

    Also, can download the latest version of the graphic card from the manufacturer website.

    You may be facing the above issue due to no graphics card drivers installed on your PC. If a device driver is not installed, then the particular device will not be supported on the PC. Any device driver installed on the PC will be visible under
    Device manager.



    Method 1: I suggest you to download and install the latest and most compatible graphics card driver for Windows 10 operating system from the manufacturer’s website and check if the device driver is visible under
    Device manager.



    Method 2: If the issue persists, I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode by
    following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



    Step 1: Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.




    • Download the latest driver setup file from the manufacturer’s website or locate the driver setup file of the previous operating system in your PC.

    • Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
      properties
      .

    • Click on the compatibility tab, check the box
      Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.

    • Once the driver is installed in compatibility mode,
      restart the PC for the effective changes to take place.


    Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.
