Windows 10: Windows laptop brightness malfunction

When using "Increase brightness" button on laptop, the brightness does not necessarily increase but moves half way towards 20% brightness. For example, starting at 100%, pressing the button once changes brightness to 60%, then 40%, then 30%, then 25% etc. Or starting at 0%, goes to 10%, then 15% etc. Additionally, the "Decrease brightness" button performs a similar recursive jump, except it seems to be heading towards "-20%" 100% -> 40% -> 10% -> 0%. To adjust the brightness, see the steps below:

• Go back to Power Options, and tick on the High performance.
• See if you can adjust the brightness.

If this not work, we highly suggest that you create an Administrator account, and re-do the steps above.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.
