On 12th March 2020, Windows 10 in my Laptop got updated KB4541338. Since the update, I have been facing a lot of issues.

First, I noticed that I was unable to connect to my wifi. The laptop interface was displaying connected to the internet, but there was no access. Initially, I thought the ISP had some issues. But, then I found the same wifi was working on my other laptop. I then went to the network and sharing center to check IPv4 and v6 properties. However, as soon as I clicked the properties system became unresponsive. I opened The Task Manager using Ctrl+Shift+Esc to kill that process, but the task manager couldn't kill that process either. Instead, the task manager itself became unresponsive. I wanted to open the Command prompt to use the Taskkill tool, but the search field of my windows wasn't responding either. So I used Windows+R to get Run box and then from there opened the command prompt to kill tasks. Taskkill did kill the network properties window but couldn't kill the Task manager. Initially, I thought it could be because of the drivers not being installed properly. So, I tried disabling and enabling the wifi driver, but that didn't yield any results. I tried to reset the network, but the interface became unresponsive. So, I went to command prompt and used the following commands: -

    • netsh winsock reset
    • ipconfig /release
    • netsh int ip reset
    • ipconfig /renew
    • ipconfig /flushdns

That didn't yield any results either. Finally, after a lot of struggle, I decided to use an ethernet cable to connect directly from the router. After a lot of hit and trial, I restarted the system in safe mode. Wifi wasn't working in safe mode either. However, ethernet was working in safe mode. Then I put those problems in the community. Some people gave me a few suggestions, none of which worked.

Finally, I gave up fixing the network and decided to reset my computer without losing any file using the windows reset feature. The reset feature goes forever at 99%.

I used sfc /scannow to detect corrupt files. Initially, it used to say that no integrity violation was found, but since the last couple of days, it is saying that some corruption was found but it was unable to repair.

I then used a bootable USB to repair the system, but it failed to repair either.

I have used a lot of stuff available on the internet, but none of them giving any results. I used dism.exe /online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth from safe mode but it said it couldn't find a source.

I don't know what else to do. Can anyone help me out?

    :)
