Windows 10: Windows live mail ending

Adhoc.... Thunderbird seems to be the only solution I have found too... so far. I'm guessing that even though I have a hotmail account, it's really outlook ??

 

Another option is eMClient. Another option for Thunderbird is Fossamail:

Hotmail = MSN = Live = Outlook.com, they're all the same thing.

Microsoft said in their email:
When account upgrades begin at the end of June, you will no longer be able to receive email sent to your Out*look*.*com account in Windows Live Mail 2012.
So, does this mean the changes they will be making will also impact all other 3rd party email clients that can currently access Microsoft mail accounts?
Outlook 2016 will work though...lol

 

That's what we are trying to figure out on this thread. It's not very clear...

 

It appears to me the Asterisks * are there to break the hyperlink, keep one from inadvertently clicking it and getting moved away from the page.

 

Hi.
I thought a lot about this today,So I went and had a go at the mail app in windows 10.
It looked okay I entered all my outlook and gmail accounts okay,But the feature is a bit different from wlm.So sent some emails to myself and other friend to see how it worked.Yes it was okay but failed to get the new mail notification to show up on screen when new mail arrives,Did all the settings regarding the notification but nil.
Has anyone here solved that issue.It may take a while to get into using the mail app but without the notification will have to think about that fault on bill gates side.

I've successfully set up my Outlook/Hotmail account under the Win 10 app, there the server details say [email address removed] Hotmail.com, I wonder whether this will change when upgrade is complete & whether using this under WLM will allow it to work if it doesn't change. There's also the manual settings of:Servername: imap-mail.outlook.com
Port:993
Encryptionmethod: SSL
Servername: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port:587
Encryptionmethod: TLS
Will these continue to work after the changeover I wonder.

I have 2 hotmail and 1 gmail accounts with linked inboxes. In the hotmail accounts I have some aliases.
I sent emails to each account and the aliases from a gmail account on my phone.
With the Mail app closed, I got a notification sound, banner and the Action center button lit up for the 1st linked inbox, not the other 2.
In Live mail 2012, all new primary and alias messages appeared in Quick Views, Unread email.
In the Mail app, Only the 3 linked inboxes appear under unread mail, I have to go in to the alias folder to see if new mail has arrived in those.

Yes.
I resent a single mail to the second hotmail account and got a notification. Seems you get only 1 notification. Cleared the notification and sent single to the 3rd linked gmail inbox, it notified. When sending 3 emails in a row, it only notified on the first.

 

An option you might have overlooked........ Link all Inboxes.

 

All the inboxes are linked already. The aliases are folders under the 2 hotmail accounts and can't be linked.
