Windows 10: Windows live phot gallery-geotag

Trying to Geotag photos using Windows Live pHoto Gallery but it just says "no connection". Any ideas?

Windows 10 Photos app and Windows Live Photo Gallery

While a nice app with powerful face detection and recognition, the latest version of Microsoft Photos App does not write back Face/People Tag information back to the file, nor exposes Captions, Star Ratings, Tags or Geotags from the photo metadata. I am
hopeful at some point these functionalities would be added. Some suggestions:

- Continue to use Photo Gallery - While it is unsupported, so far it continues to work, as it has been suggested in this thread. For my personal photography workflow I continue to use WPG instead of Photos, mainly because of the same limitations
you mentioned.

- Provide Feedback - There are a couple of suggestions to Microsoft for adding Digital Asset Management features like adding captions, tags, people tags, geotags and ratings to Microsoft Photos in the Windows Feedback Hub. The app is monitored
for feedback and suggestions, I encourage you to contribute and Upvote on features you wish to see in this app.

- Third party applications - There is a good discussion on
Windows Photo Gallery alternatives here.

- Understand how WPG handles metadata - As you mentioned, one of the pluses of Windows Photo Gallery is that is would write back the metadata back to the file as (EXIF, XMP). I have written some posts which may be a bit technical but contains
some info which may be helpful if at some point you need to export your metadata from your image files:

Windows Live Photo Gallery.

I agree that he apps are garbage. The "Photos" app that comes with Windows 10 pales in comparison to Windows Photo Gallery. Photos doesn't do the tagging and organizing, let alone the basic edits that the Photo Gallery can. Unfortunately, with the end
of support, Geotagging in Photo Gallery no longer works. Sadly, the old geotags don't port over to other programs, so I can't easily re-tool my photo organizing. Microsoft has again complicated my life.

How can I use geotags in photo gallery in Windows 10? I know there is a work around but can't find it. Thank you.
