Windows 10: Windows Live Photo Gallery build 16.4.3528.311

I have just installed this on a Windows 11 laptop and it works fine until the app is closed. When it's reopened, added folder locations have been lost, which results in the thumbnail and face recognition files being recreated which takes hours with 40k photos. If there isn't a solution to this, can anyone recommend an alternative photo app which handles tagging as well as WLPG as I have yet to find one.

How about "the original Windows Photo Gallery" itself --> "Photo Gallery can still be had,
and will run in Windows 10"

• Are you able to delete individual picture from Photo gallery app?

I suggest you to check if you are able to delete the picture through steps below.

1. Open Windows Live Photo Gallery app.

2. Then select multiple pictures from the app and tap on Del
Key from the keyboard. Check if the pictures are getting deleted from it.



I recommend you to try repairing Windows Photo Gallery app from the Control Panel and check if it helps.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type "Control Panel" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Click on Uninstall a program.

4. After that right click on Windows Essentials 2012.

5. Then select Repair all Windows Essentials programs.

2. Did you make any changes prior to this issue?

3. What is the current build installed on your computer?

This issue could have occurred due to corrupt program files in Windows Photo Gallery.

I suggest you to repair Windows Photo Gallery
and check if it helps.

1. Right-click on Start and click on Control Panel.

2. Open
Programs and features.

3. Select
Windows Live Essential then click Uninstall/Change.

4. When a Window appears, select
Repair all Windows Live programs.

5. Restart your computer after the repair.



If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall Windows Live Essentials and check if that helps.
