  1. Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool missing?

Until 19-02 Windows 10 ver 1803 updates, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool used to download as KB890830. It failed today, and when I go to Microsoft Update Catalogue, it just appears to download an application, rather than the usual 'KB' format to update after restart. I thought the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool was an automatic facility, rather than one I had to run purposely. Has Microsoft policy on this changed?

    Thanks

    Mike

    > where does MS hide their downloadable Malicious software removal tool on this site?

The Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT) is not "built into Windows 10".

"Microsoft generally delivers MSRT with Windows Update the second Tuesday of the month. The standalone version available on this* page is delivered at the same time.

KB890830 Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool 5.48 - May 2017

    Hi D4ni3l,

It is not a tool like protection software, it scans and removes malware but nothing more.

These are the different key ways from which the tool differs in comparison with protection software
