Windows media player 12 constantly crashing

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I'll certainly help you with this.

There could be a corruption with the Windows Media Player. Let's try the following methods and check.

Method 1: Run the Windows Media Player troubleshooter.

    • Press “Windows key” on your keyboard.
    • Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting
      under Settings.
    • Now select Programs in the search option.
    • Under Media Player, select Windows Media Player Settings
      to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2 : Turn off and turn on Windows Media Player from Windows features.

Turning off Windows Media Player removes it from Windows, but doesn't reduce the amount of hard disk space used by Windows. It will remain stored on your hard disk, so you can turn Windows Media Player back on if you want to.

Step 1: Disable the Windows Media Player

    • Go to start and in the search type Turn Windows features on or off.
    • Click on Turn Windows features on or off.
    • Browse to the Media Features and uncheck the option
      Windows Media Player.
    • Restart the computer.

Step 2: Enable the Windows Media Player

    • Go to start and in the search type Turn Windows features on or off.
    • Click on Turn Windows features on or off.
    • Browse to the Media Features and check the option
      Windows Media Player.
    • Restart the computer.

Hope this helps you. Keep us posted with the status of the issue to assist you further.

    Thank you.
