Windows Media Creation Tool Reformatted my External SSD

Using the Windows Media Creation Tool reformatted my entire drive.

I created a healthy partition to create a bootable drive, whilst the installation warned me that it would format the partition, I was fine with that.

After hoping out the shower I got to my computer to see that it had just decided to reformat the entire drive & not just the partition.

How after 3 years of you first being notified that this is an issue, is this still a problem? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/after-downloading-media-creation-tool-my-original/639d69fb-8bbd-480f-a958-18ce5789f152

I'm sorry, but this is so sad that I've lost all my data just because of a simple oversight during testing & your community manager not bringing this to light in a proper situation.

Does it really have to take for someone in your team to make this mistake for it to be fixed?

PLEASE FIX IT BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE LOSES ALL THEIR DATA!!!!!!

    :)

  2. How do I reformat the 64GB USB stick used by media creation tool ?

My usb sticks were either 8GB of less, and 64GB, so when using the media creation tool to upgrade Windows 10.240 to the November update which failed, I had used my 64GB disk.

However, I cannot use it for anything else. Worse, it is now 32GB.

If I 'open as Portable Device' it shows only 32GB, but with 21.1 GB free of 31.9GB.

No where have I read of any issues or suggestions that Media creation tool does this, or of people encountering problems.

In case someone asks whether I am sure it is 64GB

Please can anyone explain how to get my 64GB back?
