  1. Windows Media Overlay & FPS drops

    Apologies if this is the wrong place!

    Recently (as of an update or two ago) I’m having an issue related to the windows media overlay (the rectangle in the top left when using the media keys that shows volume, now playing).

    It seems that for some reason whenever this rectangle is displaying it’s pulling my CPU off of the application that is in full screen (from 15% usage to around 7%), it’s especially bad on League of Legends. Dropping from 250+ frames to “80”, however visually it looks more like 15.

    I’ve scoured the internet for solutions, and have tried the following;

    Updating & uninstalling old drivers Removing any overlays (GEForce, discord, game bar) Disabling full screen optimisation Turning off global vsync in the NVIDIA control panel Running in full screen & borderless Changing in game settings

    So far no joy with anything at all, the issue still persists. Something that may be related is the fact that occasionally the game itself caps to 60 hard, yet it is still uncapped in settings AFTER the drops have happened, then alt tabbing resolves it back to uncapped.

    For reference I’m running a 10700K with a 1660S, so more than enough power to run the game as a whole, it’s just so obscure that I believe it to be an issue with Windows itself and not the game/client. To draw this conclusion I disabled the media from showing when changing track on Spotify and everything was fine until volume was adjusted and the rectangle appeared once more.

    Any help and advice on this will be appreciated, or a point in the right direction of a sub that can help! Windows Media Overlay & FPS drops :)

  3. FPS drop on Windows 10

    what is the model of your laptop. What graphic drivers do you have installed? Can you list a game or two where you measured the FPS drop?

    Radeon Overlay not displaying all options

    Ok, I got a question. The options to hide the overlay are confusing. What are the steps to turn on the overlay in-game? Not interested in logging much at the moment. Is Alt-R part of turning it on/off?
