  1. Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

When I started the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, I had, for one brief moment, recognized and downloaded Windows Media Player Album Info for my music CD, then poof, it vanished. I have cleared out all temp files in C:\Users\???\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player. Like I said, it worked once, for a very brief moment. Why? WHY??? HELP!!

    :)

Windows 7 - Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

Hello Everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are on this process i just noticed that has been eating up lots of CPU time for no reason. Its called the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, i certainly do not use WMP (who does?) especially for sharing my libraries across the network.

I am about to disable the service completely and see if that will make it stop. Just seems weird that this would be running when i never even use WMP. Anyone?*Bang Head :banghead:

Media Player Network Sharing Service Issues

Her Zune works fine on my system, it's an issue with the OS's Media Player service failing that's causing problems...as I said in the OP I found people also having issues with XBox media sharing too...something with that damn service is fubar'd.

This is actually the 2nd problem we've ever had with her Zune 30Gb in the year and 3 months she's had it, battery life is still good, radio reception is pretty damn good, her zune software has worked great for her needs, has never been a pain with bandwidth or resource hogging, though she has a decent PC (see system specs). The first problem was the leap year bug @ new years and the second is this one. I do have to say even with this issue, it's a 10X better experience than what we dealth with on the iPod front...I hear they're much improved from the POS Gen3 I originally got her directly from apple...that was such a waist!

We're planning on re-installing Vista x64 in a day or two, her games and everything else seems to be fine as long as it doesn't need the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service! *Big Grin Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service :D

I've ran a reg cleaner, I have yet to undo-and redo NB/SB drivers, my 16Gb, 2gb, 1gb and PS2 Controller + USB adapter all work fine...but I might just try it anyways to scratch it off of the list...she's in the middle of a Fallout 3 session so it's on hold! Thanks for the reply anyways!

    *Toast :toast:

Building up a library on Windows Media Player

    Hi Jorge,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to rebuild the Media Library on your computer and check for the issue.

    Follow the below provided steps.

    • Shutdown Windows Media Player.
    • Stop the media sharing service. Go to Start>Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Administrative Tools>Services.
    • Right-click on the “Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service” and select
      Stop.
    • Navigate to “c:\Users\”your username”\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player. Now delete the files named
      CurrentDatabase_***.wmdb and LocalMLS_*.wmdb.
    • Start the media sharing service.
    • Now start Windows Media Player and watch it build up your library again.
    Hope it helps.
